A soda on Avenue D

One of the area’s lesser-known attractions is the remarkable variety of candy stores and soda machines.  That, at least, is what police are told by the steady stream of kids from the suburbs and out boroughs who report being mugged in a hallway on Avenue D while looking for something to drink.

“They all say they were driving by on their way to the bridge and got thirsty,” reports Det. Dennis Carroll. “What do they think we are? Crazy?”
